About San Jose
The community of San Jose gets its name from Jose (Joseph) of Nazareth, the husband of Mary the mother of Jesus of Nazareth. The full name of the community is San Jose – Choatalum but is often referred to as San Jose. Choatalum is a type of tree that grows very tall. There is a choatalum tree located in the center of this community.
The majority of community members work in agriculture particularly cultivating coffee and fruit trees. Commerce is more developed and masonry is popular, with many very skilled masons in the area.
The production of artisanal honey is becoming popular and adds diversity to the market. There is not an organized church in San Jose but they do have 2 prayer houses in the community.
San Jose has partnered with 410 Bridge since 2020.

To prepare the Dominican Republic to host mission teams, grow stronger as a unified team, and brainstorm ways to make each mission trip a truly transformational experience—for both the communities we serve and the teams that visit.
