About Bario Las Malvinas

Las Malvinas is a vulnerable community in the Dominican Republic where many families face the daily challenges of poverty, instability, and limited access to quality education. Children growing up here are often at risk—some are orphans, others come from homes deeply affected by economic hardship, and many are exposed to societal issues like early pregnancy, drug use, and prostitution at a young age.

In the midst of these realities, Las Malvinas is also a place of resilience. Families deeply value education but often lack the financial resources to send their children to school. The community includes a significant Haitian population, many of whom struggle with legal documentation that limits their children’s access to public education.

Despite the challenges, there is hope in Las Malvinas. Through local efforts like the El Renacer Care Center, children are gaining access to consistent schooling, a safe environment, and the opportunity to build a brighter future.

Their Community Goals

  • Expand access to quality, Christ-centered education with financial support for school fees, improve classroom resources, and ensure inclusive education for vulnerable and undocumented children.

  • Strengthen after-school programs, hire trained educators, and bring in a special needs counselor to meet students where they are.

  • Empower youth through vocational & entrepreneurship training.

  • Connect children and youth with Christ-centered mentors to encourage character development, discipleship, and long-term support.

  • Equip emerging local leaders with faith-based training to build sustainable, community-led solutions.

  • Improve access to clean water and sanitation through latrine construction and hygiene education, especially for families in poverty.

  • Use sports camps to engage children, promote values, build relationships, and introduce families to the local church.
