Reflections and Hope for 2025 in Guatemala

As 2024 draws to a close, we look back with hearts full of gratitude and trust in God. This year has been one of hope, growth, and perseverance as we embraced the challenges and opportunities He placed before us in Guatemala. Through God’s grace and your support, our team has witnessed countless blessings across the nine communities we serve.

Over the course of more than forty missionary trips in Guatemala, we shared God’s Word and experienced deeply emotional moments where His presence was undeniable. The hearts of missionary groups, community leaders, translators, and even our team were touched as we worked together to uplift these communities. It has truly been a year of transformation.

Economic Development: Building Foundations for Growth

In 2024, we made significant strides in economic development. Savings Groups flourished, empowering participants to plan for the future. Programs like Foundation for Farming and BST training equipped community members with the tools they needed to succeed, leading to graduates launching their own businesses—a testament to their determination and the strength of the programs.

Education: Overcoming Barriers

Education remained a cornerstone of our work this year. We provided resources to schools, students, and teachers while also conducting tutoring sessions to support children facing learning difficulties. For many families in Guatemala, helping their children finish primary school is a monumental challenge due to economic hardships. Yet, with God’s guidance and community support, we’re seeing progress that brings hope for brighter futures.

Health: Healing Bodies and Spirits

Health initiatives in 2024 were marked by collaboration and compassion. Doctors from the U.S., the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance, and local practitioners conducted medical missions to address the needs of those with limited access to care. These efforts treated simple conditions before they became chronic and provided relief to countless families. Additionally, we equipped seven clinics with essential supplies, enhancing preventive care across communities.

Our program for children with disabilities brought hope and healing not only to the children but also to their families. Psychological support and community care have strengthened their resolve, and we continue to trust that God will provide the specialized care needed for these precious children.

Water: Overcoming a Critical Challenge

Access to clean water remained a significant challenge in 2024. In El Pajal, over 300 families eagerly await the next phase of the water project. Despite the hurdles, we trust in God’s provision. In another community, we celebrated the construction of a water distribution tank—a joint effort by The 410 Bridge, local leaders, and our partners in the United States.

Leadership: The Cornerstone of Sustainability

One of the greatest successes this year has been the growth of community leadership. Our Community Coordinators have played a vital role in building relationships and equipping local leaders. These leaders are now at the forefront of sustainable development, ensuring that projects thrive long after our direct involvement.

A Personal Reflection

On a personal level, 2024 has been a year of deep spiritual growth for my family and me. We have experienced God’s faithfulness through both blessings and trials. As the year ends, we reflect on the gift of time spent together, cherishing moments of joy and unity.

Our family traditions—staying home, enjoying tamales, chicken, or pork, and singing together—remind us of the simplicity and beauty of God’s love. We celebrate the birth of Christ with hearts full of gratitude, knowing He is the greatest gift of all.

Looking Ahead to 2025

As we step into 2025, we are filled with anticipation and faith. This year will bring new opportunities to serve, connect, and grow. We pray for obedience to God’s will, that our efforts will glorify Him and bless the communities we serve.

To those planning to visit Guatemala, we eagerly await your arrival. Come with open eyes, ears, and hearts, ready to witness God’s love in action. In every leader, child, and community member, His presence is undeniable.

Happy New Year, 2025! May God bless you abundantly in the year ahead.

With gratitude,
Félix Camposeco
Senior Country Director – Guatemala

  A Note from Our Founder

If we’ve spent any time together, you’ve probably heard me this before: pay attention to who walks through the front door.

That was some early advice from my friend, Lanny, and it held the test of time. It’s important to keep a lookout for people suddenly crossing your path – God just might be introducing you to someone special. So, when Chris Joiner walked through our front door, I paid attention.

In 2021, Chris reached out just to have a conversation. Over a few breakfasts, Chris and I discussed our shared passion for changing the way the West church engages the poor. At the time, Chris was working for another non-profit organization, but it quickly became clear that we both sought to create a lasting, meaningful impact on the lives of the poor.
