153 Heroes!

GREAT NEWS! The results for Kenya’s national 8th grade exam has come out and all of our communities have been doing PHENOMENAL. The average test score for students in 410 Bridge communities went up significantly and the number that will qualify for provincial secondary schools and national secondary schools is even greater!

This test is a VERY big deal in the Kenyan education system. Very much like the SAT/ACT in the US, the test covers everything you’ve learned up to that point and informs a student of the level of secondary school that you qualify for. The pressure on these young students is unbelievable… and directs the course of their lives. Get into a good school, and your chances of making it to college are fair. Get into a bad one, and you might as well say goodbye to your educational future. And all of this pressure rests on the hearts of 14 year olds.

The amazing news is that we have over 150 students in our communities (153 to be specific) who have qualified for provincial secondary schools or higher! This is unbelievable. However, we now need to rally around them more than ever. Most of their parents cannot afford the fees of these schools and we are in need of more sponsors to help them get into secondary school. Because of how quickly this system moves, we need to act QUICKLY.  We just found out what schools they’ve been accepted to this past week and they must register within the week to get in.

Please help us out and sponsor a student for Secondary School today.  This is an amazing OPPORTUNITY to help students quickly and intentionally in a way that will impact their lives forever.  Unfortunately, we are still waiting on pictures of the students to come in from Kenya, but we need to find sponsors for them as soon as possible.

These students are HEROES in their community, and we have the chance to step up and be heroes for them. While we are waiting on pics from Kenya, please email info@410bridge.org  to sponsor a child. BrightPoint will give you the name, and eventually the picture of a student who’s life will be changed forever because of your generosity.

Be a HERO today!

  A Note from Our Founder

If we’ve spent any time together, you’ve probably heard me this before: pay attention to who walks through the front door.

That was some early advice from my friend, Lanny, and it held the test of time. It’s important to keep a lookout for people suddenly crossing your path – God just might be introducing you to someone special. So, when Chris Joiner walked through our front door, I paid attention.

In 2021, Chris reached out just to have a conversation. Over a few breakfasts, Chris and I discussed our shared passion for changing the way the West church engages the poor. At the time, Chris was working for another non-profit organization, but it quickly became clear that we both sought to create a lasting, meaningful impact on the lives of the poor.
