About Las Lomas
Las Lomas means “the hills” in Spanish. The community was named due to the mountainous territory where it is located.
Coffee plantations are numerous in this area. Plantains and bananas are also grown here. Some men in the community work in masonry.
The community members work well together and are very involved in needed community-wide projects.
Las Lomas has partnered with 410 Bridge since 2018.

The village of Las Lomas in the municipality of Unión Cantinil, department of Huehuetenango located in the western highlands of Guatemala.

In the heart of Las Lomas, Huehuetenango, Filogonio Figueroa, a devoted father of three, once found himself at a crossroads. Economic hardships and a lack of employment weighed heavily on his family, leading him to consider a difficult decision—migrating to the United States in search of a better life. But just as Filogonio began planning his journey, a new opportunity appeared in his community that would change the course of his life.
