Irigithathi Community Update

During this time in history, the world is experiencing opportunities to innovate how we serve and love one another. Thanks to the generosity of our partners and the dedication and creativity of the Irigithathi Leadership Council and the 410 Bridge staff, there is an abundance of good work being done in Irigithathi to care for each community member. Perhaps most surprising is the effectiveness of a simple megaphone to help educate community members on sanitation, handwashing, and social distancing, as well as dispelling misinformation on the Covid-19 virus and offer the hope of Christ.

We are also seeing individuals like Jan, pivot in their own businesses to serve others. She is taking the skills she learned in Business Startup Training to begin a soap making business for the health of her neighbors.

Finally, over 1000 at-risk individuals in Irigithathi received the benefit of food distribution kits to relieve the food insecurity caused by the pandemic. Thank you to everyone who is contributing to the Covid-19 relief fund; these are your dollars at work in the lives of so many.

Please continue to pray for Irigithathi in these specific ways:

  • Continue to pray for the Chairman of the Irigithathi Leadership Council as he recovers from an illness.
  • For the Leadership Council and churches as a whole, that they would be a united front as they guide their communities through this time
  • For rain, in just the right amount, during the planting season to yield crops that will help feed families in the community

A Summer Trip to Ndibai, Kenya

In July, I had the privilege of leading a Kenya Open team, and I’d love to share some of the experiences that left a lasting impact on me. Our team was a diverse group of 12 people from five U.S. states and Toronto, Canada, with five of us being repeat trip participants. It was a wonderful mix of individuals—some with deep knowledge of 410 Bridge and others who were just beginning to learn about our work.
