Wheels for Daniel

This spring, we were notified that a team from Northpoint had come across little Daniel while in Ngaamba.  Daniel was born with no legs but his parents felt so strongly about education that the mom would carry Daniel to and from Uvunye Primary each day.
The parents also had the responsibility of 5 other kids in school from Form 2 down to Daniel in class 1.  What an incredible story of parents willing to sacrifice for their children’s education!
We contacted The Walkabout Foundation and they agreed to fund an all terrain wheelchair for Daniel.  The special wheelchair was fitted for Daniel and made to make his education experience easier for him.  As you can see in the pictures he is very excited.

That’s why we now have a new Kiu case study — to show what sustainable, community-led development looks like when it really works.
