Sunday morning we attended a church service within the community. The service was 3.5 hours long but it went by so quickly! I couldn’t help but think how our service is so short in comparison, and remembering days when I had thought even that hour was too long to take time out of my day for. There were 250-300 people in this building. There is no electricity…so 95+ degrees and no AC. There were no hymnals, there were no words on a screen to read…they songs they sang were sung directly from the heart and had passion. It is hard for me to put into words and explain how I felt and what I saw. I can honestly say that I now know what Faith actually looks like. I could not understand a word that was said yet I have never felt closer to God. The joy in the faces and hearts of these people. Praising God. Believing that he will provide and care for them. HAPPY and GRATEFUL. I fought back tears the entire service… humbled by this culture that has so little but at the same time SO MUCH. This was one of my favorite experiences of the trip.STEPHANIE
