The NewSpring medical missions team doing foot-washing and jigger removal in Depatus (The Segera area).
A jigger, scientific name Tunga penetrans, is a sand flea that is brought about by lack of hygiene and breeds in dirty areas. The impregnated female Tunga embeds itself in the skin under the toenails and feeds on the skin of its host. A jigger-infested foot is completely disfigured; the afflicted can barely walk due to the pain from ruptured flesh. The resulting social isolation in turn creates a sense of trauma and reduced self-esteem.
My heart is broken. May our God use these precious children’s greater pain to keep their hearts soft and dependent upon Him. I am so grateful through my tears, that these wonderful believers have humbled themselves to serve God’s helpless ones. The children will not forget those who came to help them; and may it be, they will not forget the good God who sent them. With the help of other believers in Kenya, let us keep His love alive in this country. They will know that we are Christians by our love. May the God who loves them grow them into adults who love and serve Him. May it be, Lord! Blessings to all of you who take the time to watch this video. Don’t let the pain of watching, keep you from it. There is hope, because God has sent obedient people; and He does dearly love the children.

Wow – this was powerful and hard to watch. We showed it to three of our children tonight (6, 4, and 3 yrs old) and they were deeply moved as well. My 4 year old said what we all felt – “I feel like I want to cry until I can go to Kenya and help them!” Thanks for sharing and for all you are doing to raise awareness to the great needs in our world and how we can make a difference in Christ’s name. I would love to learn more about what you are doing!
Hi Jason! Thanks for commenting! I agree that this is a very hard video to watch. I appreciate you sharing it with your children. Their reaction to want to go and help is amazing. I will send you our latest newsletter and if you want to find out more about what we do, feel free to visit our website http://www.410bridge.org. Also, feel free to contact our director, Kurt personally (kurt@410bridge.org) if you’d like to chat about what we do. By the way, I visited your blog. Thank you for putting our video up. The more people that see that, the better! Your site is great! My husband and I are actually in the process of adopting from Ethiopia so I will definitely be following your blog. I also noticed that you have a link up for Aaron Ivey. He’s great! My husband is in the music industry and we had the honor of meeting Aaron in Atlanta a few months back. It was great to talk to him about the Lord and about adoption. I love what he’s doing. My husband and I are actually going to be a host home for the Adoption Tour in October. Can’t wait! Anyway, thanks again for your comment. I love connecting to people with a heart for Africa and adoption!

“Whatever you do for the least of these….” Matt 25:40…..God has surely blessed those that went and served, and used their talents and gifts…and I hope and pray that hearts are softened, and minds changed, in order that we may share in the blessing and help and minister to these people, and these children whom need us and our help so very much…Right now! O great and mighty God, this is my prayer. Change me now!
